The Leverage Landing Net was invented by Jeff Kempf and Ross Smith, two lifelong sportsmen. Jeff and Ross came up with the idea for a better landing net, started the company, and assemble every Leverage Landing Net in their Michigan workshop.
Jeff Kempf
I grew up and lived my entire life in the great state of Michigan. While I was growing up my dad would take me fishing or hunting somewhere just about every weekend. One day we would be looking through a hole in the ice, the next we were on a stream fly fishing for trout and the next we were under a moonlit sky plugging for bass. The rods soon went on the shelf and I would become my dad’s bird dog flushing pheasants and rabbits and then his arrow puller as he and his buddies would ready themselves for the deer season. Now I am 49 years old and still on the hard water in winter, the soft water in the spring and summer and in the woods in the fall. I live and love it all!
When I’m not hunting or fishing I, like most of us, have to work in order to play. After graduating High School I started working in a model shop building models and tools for the auto industry. That was the base for the next thirty years of my life as I was involved to some capacity with developing new products for everything from automotive, aircraft to the military. My passion for the outdoors and my background to create has now driven me to develop new products and businesses for the outdoor industry.
Ross Smith
I have been running my own custom cabinetry business for the better part of my adult life. I take great pride in all that I build and install. To see the look on the customer’s faces when the picture on the paper has come to sit in their home, that is what it is all about. My love for sports has given me another job I enjoy, coaching a high school baseball team. Teaching the boys all about the sport has been very rewarding over the years. We share the good and the bad together as a team, great for the young adults to be a part of.
The outdoors is a huge part of my family activities. The pleasure for the outdoors has been handed down to my three children. When fall and winter hit we all head to deer camp together for some great hunting and camping out in a big army tent. When the end of summer comes around the duck blinds come out on the water. I like to just sit back and see the excitement of the faces of my children. We spent many hours out on Lake Huron as a family looking for the perfect spot for fishing. I believe my children enjoy it just as much as I have over the years. My hope is the Leverage Landing Net will help you and your family find many hours of enjoyment together on the water.
